Ben Smith

Ben Smith, a dedicated educator and musician, currently holds a Master’s Degree in Education and is pursuing an educational leadership certification through Arkansas Tech University. With more than 30 years’ experience performing in live bands, as a drummer, guitarist, and lead vocalist, and more than 20 years of private music instruction experience, Ben specializes in drums and beginner guitar instruction, providing a fun learning environment for his students. 

He is passionate about creativity and mastering the fundamentals and draws inspiration from drummers like Jimmy Chamberlin and Eric Kretz and other artists like Peter Gabriel, Neil Finn, and Jeff Buckley. Ben’s experiences, including playing drums on more than 20 albums from Arkansas artists such as Some Guy Named Robb, Sam Allbright and the Southern Heat, The Gumdrops, and Dover Lights, have shaped a practical, artistic approach to music education that values originality and tasteful playing. Outside of the classroom, Ben enjoys performing live with several local bands and producing his own music, and he spends his free time enjoying his kids, running, and working out. His mission is to help others believe in themselves and develop self-confidence that goes beyond music.
